Every human being's body reacts to food differently and therefore what may be true for me may not be true for others. None of the studies by far have proved that certain type of food can impact acne directly. So it is just hit and trial to check out how your body reacts to different food. Sometimes these foods increase hormone levels in the blood. Higher hormone levels result in more oil or sebum being secreted by the skin which clogs skin pores and eventually lead to acne. I had searched and found out that below mentioned eatables may lead to acne:
1. DRINKS: like Coffee, tea, soft drinks, alcohal. Anything containing caffeine is suspected to increase hormone production and this can lead to acne
2. DAIRY PRODUCTS AND MEAT: like Butter, processed cheese, ice cream etc. For many people, animal proteins is difficult to digest and waste products resulting from the consumption of these foods linger in the body. These waste products can then be released through the skin, which results in acne. The presence of hormones in such foods can also elevate hormone levels in the body and result in acne.
3. FATS AND OILS: canola oil, mustard oil, olive oil, sesame oil, sunflower oil, hemp seed oil and safflower oil
4. Refined carbohydrates and sugar: like white bread, pasta, flour and refined sugar containing foods.
5. NUTS: like peanuts, walnuts, almonds, pistachios etc
6. PROCESSED FOODS: Avoid processed food that contains additives, preservatives and synthetic colors.
Best thing is to keep a check on the type of food you eat and how it affects your acne. For this you can change your breakfast, lunch and dinner menu for one week and then see the results. If it looks better then start adding one or two items from your original menu for one week and again check the acne condition.
